Virginia Matheny Minor
SHINNSTON — Virginia Matheny Minor, 88, of Shinnston, went to be with her heavenly father and the Love of her life, Sidney, who she has missed dearly on April 20, 2019, at her home surrounded by her children and her beloved bird, Timmy.
She was born in Enterprise on January 14, 1931, to the late Lola Mary McIntire and H. Guy Matheny.
She is survived by her children, Sharon May (Carl), Wadsworth, Ohio, Kay Ford, Fairmont, WV, Danny Minor (Lavina), Shinnston, WV, Randy Minor (Sarah), Shinnston, WV, andPeggy Collins (Dave), Shinnston, WV; grandchildren, Scott Shingleton and companion Kristi, Brunswick, Ohio, Kevin Minor and companion Grace, Lumberport, WV, Dennis Minor, Woodbridge, Va., Diane Collins, Shinnston, WV, and Amanda Haught (Michael), Shinnston, WV; great-grandchildren, Michael, Jakob, Lucas, Kyle, Brittany, Claudia, Andre, Preston, Caiden, Sadie, Brianna, Dennis Jr., Syndey Jo, Cassidy, Alexandria and Maddison; special nephew, Dick Minor, Nova, Ohio; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Lorain Bryner, Irene Hall, Dessie Jackson, Violet Green and Edith Tate; brothers, Rev. Henry Matheny, Melvin Matheny and Walter Matheny Herbert Matheny; grandchildren, Michael R. Shingleton, Wadsworth, Ohio, Judith Lynn Collins, Shinnston, WV, and Sarah Jessica Reese, Woodbridge, Va.
She was employed at G.C. Murphy in Shinnston, Hills Department store in Bridgeport and as a Home Health Specialist in Clarksburg. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Shinnston, a vocalist with the Clarksburg band for 14 years singing at local nursing homes, the Veterans hospital and United Hospital Center. She was a member of senior citizens and Bi-County Nutrition and served as past president of Bi-County Nutrition of Shinnston. She was a lifelong member of North Shinnston Baptist Church, serving as clerk, Bible study teacher, as well as other positions in the church. She was past president of Baptist Youth Fellowship and American Baptist Women’s Ministry. She was a wonderful loving mom, grandma and Memaw, who loved spending time with all of them.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St., Shinnston on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. with a funeral service on Thursday April 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. with Brian Plum officiating. Interment will be at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.

ACCIDENT — Robert M. Laughlin, 80, Accident, formerly of Westernport, died at WMHS in Cumberland on April 18, 2019.
He was born in Cumberland on Feb. 19, 1939. He was the son of the late Charles J. Laughlin and Mildred (Lewis) Laughlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Laughlin; and his brother, Charles L. Laughlin.
