David Burl Pierce


GLENVILLE — David Burl Pierce, 88, of Letter Gap, WV, departed this earthly life peacefully on the evening of Sunday, October 28, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 7, 1929, in Oxford, WV, son of the late Lincoln and Felsie Miller Pierce.
David is a graduate of Harrisville High School, class of 1945 and a United States Army Veteran, having served in England during the Korean Conflict. David retired from Equitable Gas with 29 years experience as a Compressor Station Chief and worked as a mechanic all his life.



In his spare time, David enjoyed gardening, tinkering around the house, caring for his family, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.
On February 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Claudette Crawford Pierce, who survives at their Letter Gap home.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Pierce of Letter Gap and David Pierce and wife Jeanna of Buckhannon, WV; 1 brother, Keith Pierce of West Union, WV; 4 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Tyler Maxwell; two brothers, Ezra and George Pierce; sister, Enzia Keller; niece, Nellie Pierce; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue Pierce.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV, at 11 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, with Rev. Kenny Fisher and Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Letter Gap. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary in Glenville.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contribution be made in David's honor to WV Caring (Hospice), PO Box 323, Burnsville, WV 26335.

Norma Reese


BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. — Norma Luetta Reese, 68, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at West Virginia University Hospitals, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Sept. 12, 1950, in Confluence, Pa., she was a daughter of Marain Luetta (Johnson) Silbaugh and the late Harvey Ford Silbaugh.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Debra Frazee; and brother-in-law, Bob Michaels.



Mrs. Reese was a department manager for Walmart.
Surviving is her husband, Larry A. Reese; one daughter, Michele (Donald) McCrobie, Kingwood, W.Va.; three sisters, Sandy (David) Friend, McHenry, Nancy (Greg) Humberson and Wilma Michaels, all of Friendsville; three brothers, Jim (Robin) Silbaugh, Bruceton Mills, Steve (Tonya) Silbaugh, Friendsville and Roger (Julie) Silbaugh, Grantsville; brother-in-law, Barry Frazee, Friendsville; two grandchildren, Nakisha (Brian) Bash, Reedsville, W.Va., and Dylan McCrobie, Kingwood; and two great-granddaughters, Abigale Hoover and Paige Bash.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Avenue, Friendsville, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 2 to 8 pm.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Wyrick officiating. Interment will be in the Asher Glade Cemetery.

Beverly Triplett, 76, of Burton, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born October 16, 1941 in Wadestown, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Watson) Wright.
She was employed by the Monongalia County Board of Education as a cook, having retired after several years of service. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts, quilting, square dancing, singing, and having fun. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge 293 in Wadestown and attended the Llewellyn Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Tabatha (Steve) Cronin of Wadestown; brothers: Paul Stiles of Morgantown, Lonnie (Dollie) Wright, Ralph (Kathy) Wright, Larry Wright, and Fred Wright, all of Wadestown; sisters: Carol (Daniel) Boone and Wanda Johnson of Wadestown; a sister-in-law: Freda Stiles of Wadestown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by a brother, James Stiles.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home, 500 e. Main St., Mannington on Saturday, September 15 from 5-8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. with John Snyder officiating.
