Obituary:
James “Jim” R. Fortney (72) of Enterprise, WV, passed away on September 10, 2018 at 8:22am at
home surrounded by his wife and children. Jim was born on January 10, 1946 to the late Hugh “Chutty”
and Katherine Fortney.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Shinnston High School and attended Fairmont State College. During his
time at FSC, he played Falcon Football for two years. He worked for 22 years at Sears & Roebuck Co.
and later retired from Bridgestone Tire. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Ann Catholic
Church and an adorer at the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel in Shinnston. Those that knew Jim knew he
enjoyed hunting and fishing with Bob Ayers, Darel Knight and his buddies. Jim was also a quick wit,
he wouldn’t hesitate to crack a joke and light up a room. He always had a kind word and a loving heart.
Those Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of 53 years, Teresa “Cheech”
Fortney, his three daughters Kimberly Marra and husband Anthony, Lisa Knight and husband Randy,
Christina Garbart and companion Tony Deal, six grandchildren: Elizabeth and Maralisa Marra, Emily
Knight, Lyndsey, Mary Katherine , and James Fortney-Garbart, his sister Sandra and husband Dr.
Baird Smith, a very special nephew Bob Ayers, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering and Service will be held on Saturday September 15, 2018 at Dorsey Funeral Home
from 11:00am till 2:30pm. Reverend Father Jude Perera T.O.R. will perform Catholic Rites at 2:30pm.
Per Jim’s request cremation services will be provided. Dorsey Funeral Home is honored to assist the Fortney Family.

Salem Junior Wilt
Salem Junior Wilt, 68 of Ludlow, IL, formerly of Grafton died Saturday, May 8, 1999, at
Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana,IL.
He was born August 31, 1930, in Simpson, son of the late Salem J. and Sturcha Shoemaker Wilt SR.
He served in the Air force from 1951=81 and retired from Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, IL, He Earned the Meritorious Service, Air force commendation and Air force Good Conduct with five oak leaf clusters medals. After retiring he drove a school bus and did maintenance for Ludlow Grade School for13 years. He was a member of Ludlow, NCOA and State Police Tropper Lodge 41.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Riley Wilt whom he married September 15, 1950, a son and spouse, Larry and Elaine Wilt of Auburn, NY, a sister Erma Riley of Grafton, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs Gerald E. (Barbara Ruth) Pyles and Mrs Doyel (Anna Naomi) Devers, and two brothers Mr. Harry C. Wilt and Mr Luther Alton Wilt.
Service was held May 13, at Donald G. Ford Funeral Home with the Rev. H. Edgar Suite officiating. Burial was in West Virginia National Cemetery.

Richard R. “Dick” Wilt went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 20, 2018. We mourn our loss but rejoice knowing that he is in heaven with his beloved wife, Mary Lois.
He was born in Morgantown on May 29, 1927, son of Lester and Nellie Wilt.
His work included Sanitary Dairy, Wilburn’s Produce and ultimately, C&P Telephone (Bell Atlantic, Verizon) retiring in 1987, after 33 years of service.
His last 31 years were happily spent hunting, fishing, golfing, serving the Lord at church and being with his family and many friends. All of us will miss this wonderful man so much, his caring spirit and sense of humor always lifted us up.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lloyd; and his wife.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Dee); his daughter, Pam Duncan (Greg); six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Jean Walls (Bill); his sister-in-law, Shirley Wilt and eight nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, in Morgantown, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20.
