Zelda Catherine McKenzie


 


 


GRANTSVILLE — Zelda Catherine McKenzie, 76, Grantsville, died on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at WMHS-Frostburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Frostburg.


Born on May 8, 1941, in Jennings, she was a daughter of the late James Wesley and Della (Hoover) Bittinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William McKenzie, February 27, 2002; one son, James William McKenzie; one great-grandson, Owen; two brothers, Clark and Bernard Bittinger; and four sisters, Elma Mason, Virginia Fazenbaker, Viola Wilburn, and Melva McKenzie.


Mrs. McKenzie was a seamstress for the Flushing Shirt Factory.


She is survived by one son, Kevin Joe McKenzie, Accident; six daughters, Glenda Eilene Cain, Harvey, La., Barbara Jean Bittinger, Grantsville, Shari Catherine Anderson, Smithfield, Va., Charlotte Marie Stanton, Grantsville, Loretta Lynn Whitehead, Meyersdale, Pa., and Diane Carol Snelson, Grantsville; one brother, Everett Bittinger, Accident; three sisters, Sylvia Garlitz, Grantsville, Lily Hoover, Meyersdale, and Helen Garlitz, Friedens, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Shannon, Michele, Megan, Christopher, Mandi, Ashley, Tyler, Danni, Derek, Jamie, Caitlin, and Morgan; and 11 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Gwyn, Hannah, Bryce, Abi, James, Mia, Gracie, Amylia, Cole, and Bryan.


Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Donny Hinkle officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.

James R. Heffner, 75, of South Mountain Restoration, formerly of Saxton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Chambersburg Hospital.


He was born in Saxton, Pa on November 15, 1942, a son of the late William and Mildred Heffner.


He was preceded in death by a sister Helen Doris.


He is survived by two sisters, Betty L. Moran of Bridgeport, WV and Barbara J. Revelle of Chambersburg, PA; three nieces, Barbara Terwilliger, Susan Koon, Brenda Deardorff and nephew, Steven Revelle. He is also survived by two grandnieces and one grandnephew.


James attended Saxton Liberty High School and retired from JLG Industries. He spent many years in the construction field.


James enjoyed hunting and gardening throughout his life.


The family will receive friends at Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678 on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.   Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. with lay speaker James Snyder officiating.


The interment will follow at Fockler Cemetery, Saxton, PA.
