Obituary for JoAnn Robinson


JoAnn Robinson,84, of Lumberport, passed away March 14, 2018 at WVU United Hospital Center after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be held at Harmers Funeral Home in Shinnston on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 3pm - 8pm.


Funeral services will be held at Harmers Funeral Home on March 20, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Don Johnson of Life Builders Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.


JoAnn was born at home, Long Run, WV to Levi and Carrie Moore on July 18th, 1933. She attended a one room school at Long Run and graduated from Shinnston High School in 1951 where she played clarinet in the band. After retiring as a housewife, JoAnn went on to work for Dr. Julian D. Gasataya and retired with him after 38 years of service.


JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Carrie Moore; two brothers Raymond and Franklin, a sister Carol, her son Willard J. Robinson, 2nd and her grandson, Michael Dane Baldoni.


JoAnn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Willard J. Robinson, sister Betty Rector (Richard) of Parkersburg, daughters Deborah Smigocki (David) and Rebecca Edge (William); 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.


JoAnn through the years was a Brownie Girl Scout Leader, avid supporter of WVU sports and her beloved Pittsburg Steelers. She was a woman that will be missed,

Richard "Dick" L. Rector
December 6, 1928 - April 29, 2018


Richard L (Dick) Rector, 89 of Parkersburg passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 holding
the hand of his wife of 62 years, Betty Moore Rector.  They were married April 15, 1956.
Dick was born in Shinnston, West Virginia on December 6, 1928 to the late Nelson Hoff and
Lillian Mabel Pickens Rector.
 
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John & his wife Mary K. Rector Jemison and Robert
Rector; and two sisters, Enid Rector Duncan and Helen Claire Vincent.
 
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Kirk Stephen Rector (Robin) of Elkview, WV and Lee
Eric Rector (Wayne) of Parkersburg WV; and his niece, Mary Ann Rector Kreamer (Harry).
 
He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Joseph Michael Rector (Suzanne) of Walton,
WV, Alliene Elizabeth Farley (Garret) of Henrico, Va. and Matthew Stephen Rector (Lindsay) of
Orlando, Florida; great-grandfather to Hayden Michael Rector, Jonah Richard Rector, Mila Ann Farley
and Cora Grace Farley; several nieces and nephews; and his two faithful companions, Lexi and Flash.
A special thank you to his dedicated Caregiver and good friend, Sylvia Fury for her caring and devotion.
 
Dick graduated from Fairmont State College and retired from the West Virginia Department of Human
Services as Area Administrator in Roane and Jackson Counties.  He was a 50-year member of The St.
John’s Masonic Lodge No. 24 in Shinnston, WV and the Scottish Rite Lodge in Parkersburg, WV. 
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a long-time member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church
in Parkersburg and friends of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta, Ohio.
 
Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 19th Street in Parkersburg on Thursday,
May 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Ian Reid and Reverend Kat Hawbacher presiding.  Friends
will be received at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street in Parkersburg on Wednesday,
May 2, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. 
American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg will conduct full military honors at the church.  
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Dick to either the Humane Society of
Parkersburg, Artsbridge or a charity of your choice.
