Dorothy Anne Deem Goff, age 78, went to be with the Lord following a brief illness on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Dorothy was born on September 21, 1938, the daughter of Henry B. Deem and Nellie Boggess Deem of Shinnston. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Raymond M. Goff; her daughter, Penny Shreves; and by her siblings Roscoe Deem, Ralph M. Deem, Carl R. Deem, George I. Deem, Harvey Deem and an infant sister Blanche Deem; and her lifelong best friend, Martha Newbrough Raines Deem.

She is survived by four daughters and one son and their families. Ramona Goff Weekly and her husband, John Weekly of Bingamon; Natalie Goff Marshall Trader of Enterprise; Barbara Goff Hudkins Chickerell of Shinnston; Raymond M. Goff and his friend Michelle Parsons of Enterprise; and Patti Goff Toothman and her husband Rod Toothman of Plum Run. She is also survived by her sister Betty Deem Matheny of Enterprise and her brother Henry “Buck” Deem of Atwater, Ohio.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Johnny R. Weekly and his wife, Wendy, and their children, Alexis and Anthony of Bingamon; Jessica Weekly Freeman and her husband, Bryan and their children Izabella and Ezra of Enterprise; Justin D. Weekly and his fiancé Kimberly Ridenour, and their daughter Annabelle of Bingamon; Robert L. Marshall and his wife, Mindi, and their children Sarah Kinder and Mary Ann Marshall of Clarksburg; Barton J. Hudkins of Shinnston; James D Chickerell of Shinnston; Barbara M. Edgell and her husband, Robert “Bob”, and their son Haydon of Enterprise; Phillip I. Shreves and his children McKenzie, Haylie, Jessie, and Indea of Enterprise; Nicole A. Weaver and her daughter Kristen Jackson of Kansas; Nicholas R Goff and his wife Danielle, and their children LaLeighonna and Kainen of Monumental; Dylan J. Goff of Monumental; Tyler O. Toothman of Plum Rum; and Seneca B. Toothman of Plum Run; and several nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved and cared for as if they were her own.

Dorothy Goff lived a full life in her roles as wife, mother, homemaker and caregiver. She was an avid gardener, and perfected the art of baking with her homemade bread and pies. She cared for many people during her years as a personal care provider.

She attended Wyatt Grade School and Shinnston High School. She actively attended Shinnston Church of the Nazarene. She loved serving others, always preparing and delivering food to those in need. She loved sewing, gardening and time with her family. She truly had a servant’s heart. She also delivered food for Meals on Wheels for many years.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Harrison County for their kind and tender care during her short illness.


A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Jewel City Church with Pastor Robert Ringer of the Shinnston Church of the Nazarene officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday, March 4th from 10:00am until 1:00pm.
