Carl (Whistle) Tennant, 62, of Blacksville, died unexpectedly Monday at Hundred Auto Service.
He was born April 18, 1906 in Pentress, a son of the late Nemrod and Jennie Stiles Tennant.
He owned an interest in the Hundred Auto Service and had been in the automobile business for 12 years. Previously, he worked as a coal miner. He was a member of the Blacksville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Tennant; two sons, George Tennant of Blacksville and James Tennant of Perryville, O.; one stepson, Carl Spitznogle of Waynesburg, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs. Susan Statler of Wrightstown, N.J., Mrs. Wilma Walls of Warnick, O., Mrs. Dorothy Statler of Warren, O. and Mrs. Florence Burgess of Niles, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Foley and Miss Lenore Tennant, both of Blacksville; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Virginia Tennant in 1962, and two brothers.

After arriving at Ellis Island, his name was changed from Girimonte to Gemondo. He relocated to Harrison County to work in the coal mines
