     Margaret Jean Morris

SHINNSTON — Margaret Jean Morris, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Salem Health Care Center.


Jean was born on May 4, 1922, in Enterprise, the daughter of the late Vinson M. Morris and Gertie Maude Fortney Morris.


She is survived by one sister, Merle Morris Miller.


In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her four brothers, George Ralph, Robert Fred, James V. and Hebert Vinson Morris; and one sister, Betty Jean Morris.


Jean attended the Enterprise Grade School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Enterprise. She had been a resident of the Sunbridge Nursing Home since 1982.


Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. The Rev. Brian Plum will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Enterprise I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Obituary for David Miller


David R. Miller, 79, of Shinnston passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at United Hospital Center.
He was born on May 6, 1938 in Shinnston to the late Ralph and Merle Morris Miller. David is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline Miller, whom he married on February 14, 1987.
David is also survived by his children, Lisa Consalvo and her husband Mike; Mike Miller; Jimmy Miller and his wife Melissa; and Erica Miller; 3 step-children, one of which he raised, Jamie Lee Ann Snedden and her husband Sean; 10 grandchildren, Courtney; Carly; Lauren; Joey; Ashton; Jasmin; Quincy; Rachel; Connor; and Athena; great-grandchild, Oliver; brother, Jimmie Miller and his wife Toni; and best friend, Don Johnson.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ann.
David was a member of the United Methodist Church of Shinnston. He graduated from Shinnston High School. David attended Fairmont State University and West Virginia University. He graduated from West Virginia School of Banking and completed American Institute of banking courses in principles of bank operations, negotiable instruments, commercial law, analyzing financial statements and business administration. David started his career at The Union National Bank in Clarksburg as a Teller in 1963. In 1973, he was promoted to assistant vice president and in 1979 promoted to vice president in charge of commercial and mortgage loan department. He retired after more than 38 years from Commercial Lending at Bank One on April 13, 2001. David served three years with the United States Army, cryptography section, VII Corps Headquarters in Mohringen, Germany. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. David was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 52. He enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing. David also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home on Friday from 3-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11 AM with Mr. Chris Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Henry2 Morris, son of Henry1 Morris (ca 1783-1855) and Edith Hickman (1783-1852) was born ca 1813 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. He married Charlotte Morris, daughter of John Franklin Morris (ca 1763-ca1844) and Rebecca. John Franklin was the brother of Henry 1 Morris, making Charlotte and Henry2 first cousins. Henry2 and Charlotte spent most of their lives in Beaver Township, Guernsey County. They had ten children: James (b.1828-1909) married Catherine Shay (1831-1912); Elijah (b. ca 1829-1900) married Barbara Ellen Bowersock (1840-1883); Jonah Elias (b. ca 1832); Edith (b. ca1835); Mary (b. 1837-1914) married Robert Botkin (1832-1900); Simon (b. 1839-1863) married Nancy Stephens (1842-1892); Bethany (b. ca 1841); Levi (b. 1845-1900) married Rebecca Stephens (1842-1920); Uriah3 (1848-1912) married Nancy Stephens; Jonathan (b.ca1850-1885). Henry2 died 16 November 1885 in Noble County, Ohio. Charlotte died 7 September 1891, Beaver, Noble County, Ohio. Henry2, Charlotte and many of their children and grandchildren are buried at the Palestine Church of Christ Cemetery in Noble County, Ohio.
