Henry Morris, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at the home of his son, M. R. Morris, of Whiteley township, Tuesday morning, December 27, aged 86 years, after a long illness of a complication of diseases. Mr. Morris had followed farming all his life, but had retired from active life a few years ago. He was a member of the Fordyce M. P. church. Five children survive, Milton R. Morris with whom he had made his home, John and Andrew J. Morris, of Fordyce; Mrs. Jacob (Caroline) Hatfield, of Mt. Morris, and George W. Morris, of Enterprise, W. Va. One brother, Lindsey Morris, of Kansas, also survives. His wife, Eliza died in 1901,

HENRY MORRIS, farmer, Fordyce, Penn., was born in Jefferson Township, Greene County, February 25, 1824. His parents, Peter and Elizabeth (Renner) Morris, are natives of this county, where they were married, and remained until Mrs. Morris' death. Her husband is still living and resides in Whiteley Township. They were the parents of seven children, of whom three are living. Henry is the oldest child, and was united in marriage May 31, 1846, with Eliza Morris, who was born in Franklin Township, December 7, 1828. She is a daughter of John and Jemima (Pipes) Morris, now deceased. Mr. Henry Morris and wife have seven children, Caroline, wife of Dr. Jacob Hatfield; Lindsey, John, George W., Andrew J. and Milton R. Franklin being deceased. Mr. Morris is one of the progressive business men of his township, in. which he has been engaged in farming and stock dealing all his life. He owns a fine farm of 370 acres. He served one term as director of the poor. His wife is a consistent member of the Methodist Church.

"In pursuance of the direction of the last Will and Testament of John Renner, dec'd., late of Jefferson township, Greene county, Pa., we will offer for sale on the premises, on FRIDAY the 12th day of MARCH, 1847, between the hours of 12m. and 2 o'clock, p.m., the following real estate, viz: 140 acres of Land, situate part in Franklin and part in Whitely townships, on the head waters on Big Whitely creek. There are about 110 acres cleared, of which there is 15 acres of most excellent meadow. The balance is well timbered. - The improvements consist of a good two story hewed log house and stable; a most excellent peach orchard, and a number of other fruit trees; an excellent spring of water near the house. The road from New Town to Jefferson leads through this place. It is will adapted to farming or grazing, and very convenient to both good grist and saw mills. This tract of land is well worth the notice of persons wishing to purchase real estate, as it will be sold on very accommodating terms to suit purchasers.


There is an 1812 Deed from John Renner and wife Margaret of Whitely Twp., Greene Co. PA to Jacob Renner.
