Stiles. George Arthur Stiles
December 21, 1997
STILES. George Arthur Stiles, of Avery Heights, Hartford, died Dec. 20, 1997 in Hartford. He was born to Charles Arthur Stiles and Louisa Briggs Stiles, Aug. 24, 1907, in Sanford, NY. He grew up in Deposit, NY, moved to Connecticut in 1929, and spent the rest of his life there, principally in Rocky Hill, with the love of his life, Coribel Page Stiles, for 66 years before her death. They had three children, Jane Ann, Phillip John and Sandra Sue. George worked for Pratt & Whitney Tool, Cuno Engineering, and retired from Aetna Casualty and Surety in 1972. He was a life deacon in the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, a member of the choir and a trustee, a member of Mason's Stepney Lodge #133 AF&AM for 58 years, a member and past president of Stepney Seniors, ran the AARP/55 Alive program for 25 years until 1994, and enjoyed Senior activities, cards, etc. A common comment about George was that he was ''a gentleman, a real gentleman''. He is survived by a son, Phillip John Stiles; and a daughter, Sandra Stiles Baldwin; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great- grandchildren. Calling hours are Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Rose Hill Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service Sunday, Dec. 28, 2 p.m., at the Rocky Hill Congregational Church. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Church for the building fund.
