Obituary:
RILEY. Mrs. Lovie Belle Riley, 63, wife of Hugh H. Riley and one of Shinnston's most highly
respected women, died at a Clarksburg hospital last Thursday of uremic poisoning. She had
undergone an operation on the previous Thursday. Mrs. Riley had been for many years actively
engaged with her husband in conducting their paint and wall paper store here and her friendly
manner had won many friends throughout the community. She was also a devoted member of the First
Baptist Church, a member of the missionary society and president of the Fhilathea Sunday school
class. Funeral services were held at the church Sunday afternoon and were largely attended. Many
beautiful floral pieces expressed the high esteem in which she was held. Interment took place at
Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Riley was born July 22, 1881, near Harmony Grove, Taylor county and was a
daughter of Finton L. and Plymra Riley Curry. She is survived by her husband, a son, Noel Riley,
local funeral director; a daughter, Mrs. Bruce Daniels, of Youngstown, Ohio; two brothers, Clarence
Curry, circuit clerk of Marion county, and Lee Curry, of Monongah; two sisters, Miss Nina Curry of
Fairmont, and Mrs. Erna Curry of Taylor county, and eight grandchildren.
