Wilmadine Ruth Bonnell
WEST UNION — Wilmadine Ruth Bonnell, 77, of West Union departed this life Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Aug. 17, 1928, a daughter of the late Ezra Guy and Esther Gay Gum Swisher.
On Dec. 29, 1943, she married Jonathan Paige Bonnell, who preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1978.
Surviving are three sons, Michael P. Bonnell and wife Cynthia, Cheyenne, WY, Patrick H. Bonnell and wife Delores, New Milton, and Gregory D. Bonnell and wife Kris, Arnolds Creek; two daughters, Debra P. Bonnell, West Union, and Shelly G. Bonnell, West Union; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Bonnell, Michelle Brinton and husband Doug, Tracy Bonnell and wife Sabrina, Ian Bonnell, Julie Sherod and husband Mike, Deena Bonnell, Kristen Woodie and husband Jeremy, Jeffrey Bonnell, Katie Bonnell, Paige Phillips, Jana Bonnell and Jonathan Bonnell; 7 great-grandchildren, Kristen Bonnell, Angel Barber, Peyton Bonnell, Harley Woodard, Shelby Barber, Jana Bonnell and Caleb Woodie; two sisters, Alice “Sally” Jacobs, Smithburg, and Sue Ann Jett, Belpre; two brothers, Forrest Gene Swisher, Youngstown, OH, and Ezra Guy Swisher Jr., Williamstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Regina DuFrene, Lucille Swisher and Freda Stitt, and three brothers, Bernard Swisher, Fredrick Swisher and Edward Lee Swisher, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bonnell was a former employee of Myles Manufacturing in West Union and retired from Laura May Manufacturing in Pennsboro with 41 years of service. She worked for Doddridge County Senior Citizens as a senior companion for five years. She was a 1946 graduate of Doddridge County High School, a faithful athletic supporter and her children and grandchildren’s greatest fan. She loved all sports but most importantly football. She was an avid Mountaineer football fan. Mrs. Bonnell had attended the Rock Run Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the Spurgeon Funeral Home, 212 Front St., West Union, with Pastor Charles Elliott and Pastor Jeff Stefanov officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 14, 2006, from 2-8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Sunday.
