John G. Stiles, 58, of Wana, WV, well known driller died unexepectedly
at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 1961 while at work in the Michigan oil
and gas fields. Death was due to a coronary occlusion.
Mr. Stiles was well known in the Waynesburg area as an automobile
salesman, but for several weeks he had been employed in Michigan by drilling
contractor Ernest Nelson. He had worked for several years in Michigan as
a driller and also in other western states. He was born Feb. 4, 1903 at
Wana, WV., a son of Levi Jesse Stiles of Wana, WV. who survives, and the
late Sally Stiles and spent his his early life at Wana, WV. He was a
member of the Methodist Church at Wana. Surviving besides his father
are his wife, Dorothy Haney Stiles; one son, Robert Lawrence Stiles
and two grandchildren.
