Obituary, Dorthy Virginia Fincham Sinnett


NUTTER FORT — Dorthy Virginia Fincham Sinnett, 97, of Glen Falls, WV, passed away on Oct. 15, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.


She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on July 14, 1916, a daughter of the late Ferd and Florence Miller Fincham.


Her husband of 72 years, Roy Franklin Sinnett, preceded her in death in 2007.


Mrs. Sinnett is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Sinnett Auvil Moore of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Rod Auvil and his wife Lois of Flemington, and Shawna Stewart and her husband Gary of Pittsburgh, PA; four great-grandchildren, Casey Williams and husband Dave, Cory Auvil and wife Vanessa, Savannah Stewart and Clay Stewart; two great-great-grandchildren, Lilyanna Wil-liams and Renna Richter; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Shiffra, Neva Burnside, Alice Riffle and Goldie Winters; and one brother, Wayne Fincham.


Mrs. Sinnett was a member of the Glen Falls Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 60 years, and formerly was a cook for the Manhattan Restaurant.


The family wishes to extend special thanks to People’s Hospice, Marla Thomas for her gentle caring and friendship, her granddaughter-in-law, Lois Auvil, for all of her help, friends, Nancy Cochran, Robin Venture, Roger Jackson and Linda Chrislip. Also special thanks to Reverend Bryant Bailey and Glen Fall Falls Baptist Church for all of the visits, cards and flowers.

Dorthy’s family cannot express the love that they had for her over the years, but they also know that the true love she had for God has taken her to her new home.


Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Thursday, from 2-8 p.m.


The funeral service will be held at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Bryant Bailey presiding.


Entombment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

NUTTER FORT — Dorthy Virginia Fincham Sinnett, 97, of Glen Falls, WV, passed away on Oct. 15, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness.
