(Green County). Bithena possible last name Cross since Stephen and Bithena


are buried with a marker in the Cross Cemetery, Crossroads, WV. Stephen served


in Military during the Rev. War Era. Several have joined DAR/SAR though Stephen.


 


Will of Stephen Stiles


In the name of God Amen. I, Stephen Stiles of the County of Monongalia in the Commonwealth of Virginia being of sound mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my Body that it is appointed unto men once to die do make and ordain in this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz; first, I commit my Soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body to be buried in a Christian like manner and as to my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me to my worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me my will is that my funeral charges and all my just debts be paid out of my Movable estate……and as to the remainder of my real & Movable estate, that it be divided in manner following that is to say; To my beloved wife Deborah, I give all or as much property as she brought with her to me to be Delivered to her children as she pleases or orders and if out lives me, my will is that she have my movable estate at the appraisement of men or if sold the amount thereof as soon as collected after the expenses or appraisers and executor is paid.


 


And my will is that my beloved children have the remainder of my estate, whose names are as follows, Job, Aaron, William & Jonathon, is Elizabeth, Ruth & Lyddia. Item I give Damise and bequeath to William & Jonathan the lands and property already Deeded to them and also all dues & demands I have or my heirs might have as their full shear, Item, I give and bequeathe Elizabeth Knight and her husband John Knight all and singular that one Hundred and Fifty acres of Land on which they now live for which I have given him a title bond as also the movables and other property already given to them I give and bequeathe the said Land and premises to them and their Heirs and assigns forever, And my will is That my Son William have the homestead whereon I now live containing one Hundred acres for which I have given him a title Bond Conditioned for the payment of One Thousand Dollars to be paid as follows, One Hundred Dollars in one year after my Disease to Lyddia Long or to her Heirs or assigns and also the sum of one Hundred Dollars to be paid at the Expiration of two years after my Disease to Ruth Rynhart or to her Heirs or assigns, Also the sum of three Hundred Dollars at the end of five years after my Disease to be paid one half to Job the other half to Aaron or to their heirs or assigns.


 


And my will is that at the expiration of Six hears after my disease my Son William pay the sum of one Hundred Dollars expiration of seven years as above s’d one other Hundred likewise the sum of one Hundred dollars to Ruth Rynhart at the expiration of eight years after my Disease and also one after my Disease and lastly one Hundred Dollars to Ruth Rynhart at the expiration of ten years after my Disease. The whole of the said Legacys amounting to one thousand Dollars in Consideration of my son William paying the Whole and Every part as herein mention or if sooner discharged my will is That my son William his Heirs or assigns shall occupy & possess all the singular the said hone Hundred acres to him his heirs and assigns forever as likewise every other gift grant or Dowry to belong to whom bequeathed and to their Heirs and assigns forever.


 


And I do hereby ordain constitute and appoint my Beloved Son William my Sole Executors of this my last will and Testament charging him faithfully to execute the same according to the true intent thereof And I do hereby revoke all other former wills and do acknowledge this & this only to be my last will and Testament.


 


In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Twenty Seventh Day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and fifteen.
