Strychnine is common in poisons set out to control rodents.

Strychnine poisoning cause spasms that spread to every muscle in the body, with nearly continuous convulsions, and get worse at the slightest stimulus. The convulsions progress, inc
easing in intensity and frequency until the backbone arches continually.  Death comes from asphyxiation caused by paralysis of the neural pathways that control breathing, or by exhaustion from the convulsions. The subject usually dies within 2–3 hours after exposure

as being born in "Clay Infirmy" and person making report written as Welch, Supt of Infirm.

Mother listed as Mollie Robinson.

{Infirmy could refer to one of three facilities in Wood County, WV in 1892.

They were probably located in Clay District.

1. Infirmary is used to refer to medical facilities in the "County Poor House"

2. Infirmary is used to refer to medical facilities in the "County Jail"

3. Infirmary is used to refer to medical facilities in the "County Mental Facility"

There is a Grace M. Robinson listed in 1910 Marion census age 18 and listed as a nurse with

seven other nurses and 27 patients. The head of household is listed as McDonald,

This appears to have been the Miners' Hospital No. 3 operated by J. W. McDonald MD, and his

wife Mary (Sheetz) McDonald.

The Miner's Hospital was basically a miners' hospital specializing in mining injuries.

In 1899 the West Virginia Legislature passed an act providing for the establishment of three Miners' Hospitals: Miners' Hospital No. 1 to be located in the region of the Flat Top Coalfield, either in McDowell County of Mercer County; Miners' Hospital No. 2 in the New River Coal Field, in Fayette or Kanawha County; and Miners' Hospital No. 3 in the Fairmont Coal Field, in Marion County.

Of these hospitals, one was located at Welch, McDowell County; another at at McKendree, Fayette County; and a third at Fairmont in Marion County. To them were admitted and treated, free of charge, all persons injured in this State as a passenger on, or employee of , a railroad, or otherwise injured by a railroad train, or injured or hurt in a coal mine or the coal business. When there were room such other persons as have been injured were admitted at the actual cost of treatment; but preference was given to mine and railroad employees
