Elma Ruth Row, 93, a former resident of West Lanham Hills, Md., and recently a resident of Belington, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 11, 2014, in Davis Medical Center in Elkins.



She was born Sept. 30, 1920, at Shinnston, a daughter of the late Stephen W. Johnson and Olive Esther Stiles.


She was married to Bronson Alva Row, who preceded her in death in 1985.




She is survived by two sons, James Row and wife, Cissy, of Belington and Michael Row and wife, Sharon, of Elkins; one daughter, Lynn Brewer and husband, Mark, of Belington; one sister, Doris Duncil of Wheeling; and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Jeffrey Row; three brothers, James Johnson, Stephen Johnson Jr. and Walter Johnson; and one grandchild, Sabrina Row.


Elma had worked at the Seven Up Bottling Co. in Washington, D.C., as an accounts receivable manager for many years.


Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Interment will follow in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md., at a later date.

SHINNSTON — Richard Lane Fluharty, 67, of Lumberport, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at his residence.


He was born March 20, 1947, in Shinnston, a son of Freda Fluharty Clinehens, who survives him in Sidney, Ohio.



Richard is survived by his loving wife, Brenda M. Fluharty, whom he married on September 6, 1969. Also surviving are his son, Richard Todd Fluharty, his granddaughters, Katelyn B. and Rawyn D. Fluharty, all of Bridgeport; and two brothers, Ralph Miller and Neil Clinehens.

Richard served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the West Virginia State Police Maintenance Department in 2005. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Shinnston. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Disabled American Veterans. Richard enjoyed woodworking, antique cars, watching football and guns.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brad Blanchard and Rev. Aulbert Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
