Allen Zane Stiles, 82, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home surrounded by family and under the care of WV Caring.
Allen Zane was born Monday, May 13, 1935 in St. George, a son of the late James Okey Stiles and Laura Spessert Stiles. On June 12, 1958, he was married to the former Lois Ann Cooper who survives. They had celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Allen Zane’s memory are two daughters, Karen Lynn Fendley of… Elkins and Sherry Gail Stiles of Davis, three sisters, JoAnn Kerkes, Loretta Faye Stiles, and Lynn Smith, all of Simpsonville, SC, two grandchildren, Jeremy Adam Fendley of Waynesboro, VA and Jacob Timothy Fendley of Elkins, several nieces and nephews and his two special puppies, Tippy and Skippy.
Preceding Allen Zane in death besides his parents is one sister, Pearl Watkins and one brother, James Dale Stiles.
Allen Zane was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1953, had received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from West Virginia University, and had served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He had worked as a supervisor with the USDA Farmer’s Home Administration allowing him to live in various parts of the country with his family. He enjoyed feeding the birds, camping, and travelling. He enjoyed following politics and had worked the local election polls for many years. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Allen Zane’s request for cremation was honored. A graveside service will be held at the Limestone Cemetery on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Rev. Neal Parsons will officiate and inurnment will follow.
